Great Coaching Staff

Last January when Bill Stewart was named West Virginia’s 32nd head coach his very first goal was to put together the best coaching staff he could. He figured if that was in place everything else would fall into place. Seven months later on the eve of the 2008 season opener against Villanova, Stewart couldn’t be happier with the men he’s surrounded himself with.
“From what I hear from people this may be the greatest staff ever and that’s not a slam at the past – that’s just talking about the present,” Stewart said. “If (the coaches) can be good citizens in this town and if we can be good gentlemen of faith, I don’t care what faith, if we can just be good role models for the youth of America then we’re doing something right.”
Stewart knows, too, that his staff will be judged by how many games his football team wins. He just won’t comprise his core principles to achieve that objective.
“At the end of the day I want them to say that Bill Stewart recruited men with character – not a bunch of characters,” he said.
