MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s basketball Coach Mike Carey today announced that freshman Jessica Capers will miss the 2008-09 season after tearing her left knee’s ACL in a recent North Carolina All-Star game.
“This is very unfortunate for Jessica,” Carey said. “We know she’ll come back stronger and she’ll have four years of eligibility remaining. We are looking forward to her four successful years here at WVU.”
A 6-1 forward from Gastonia, N.C., Capers is rated the 74th-best prep prospect by All-Star Girl’s Report. She averaged 18.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game as a senior at Forestview High School last year en route to 2008 All-Piedmont First Team and Player of the Year honors.
