Leading 1-0 at the half, Betscher found the back of the net in the 59th minute on a free kick from 25 yards out. The Decatur, Ill., native fired a shot around the Maryland wall and inside the near post for the 2-0 lead.
Betscher scored her second goal of the match a minute later on a cross from senior Deana Everrett. Betscher beat the Terrapin goalkeeper one-versus-one for the score.
Freshman Blake Miller helped set up the Mountaineers’ first goal in the 31st minute. Miller sent a ball up the flank to Betscher who forced a corner kick opportunity. Betscher served the ball into the box where Everrett took a volley for the 1-0 lead.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kerri Butler recorded two first half saves in the shutout.
The Mountaineers registered nine shots on the night, including a 6-2 second half advantage.
