Cross Country/Track: Asselin Honored by CoSIDA

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University sophomore distance runner Marie-Louise Asselin has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 first team announced by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) officials today.
The Sarnia, Ontario, native boasted a 3.86 grade point average in biochemistry and has been a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll as well as a BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
Asselin had a spectacular year in cross country and track, earning All-America honors in both sports. Asselin finished 14th at the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Championships, while taking seventh place in the 3,000m run and fourth place as a part of the distance medley relay squad at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track Championships.
To qualify for the all-academic teams, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.21. Student-athletes are nominated by their respective sports information directors and are voted on by members of CoSIDA.
