MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University finished with a school-best 30th place finish in the final U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup standings.
Prior to this year, WVU’s best finish was No. 41 in 1997-98. Last year, West Virginia finished in 57th place.
The Mountaineers accumulated 630.50 points, ranking second among BIG EAST schools. Notre Dame, which does not play BIG EAST football, finished 21st overall. Louisville finished third among BIG EAST schools with a 32nd place finish.
“I am pleased with our best finish in the Directors’ Cup standings,” says Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong. “We are very proud of our accomplishments on the field and in the classroom, and it’s a tribute to our coaches, staff, student-athletes and fans.”
The U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 20 sports.
