Swimming: Delic Named Academic All-America

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University swimmer Nick Delic has been named a third-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Delic was named to the Men’s At-Large Academic All-America team, which includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
The Split, Croatia, native earned six All-America honors over the course of his career. He leaves WVU with or as part of four school records, one WVU Natatorium record and three BIG EAST Conference records. Delic was the male recipient of the 2008 Red Brown Cup, given to WVU’s most outstanding all-around athlete.
Delic, a May graduate in finance who boasted a 3.62 grade point average at the time of voting, has been a member of the Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll and BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
