MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Stephen Morrison pitched 8 2/3 strong innings and Joe Agreste drove in four runs to lead West Virginia to an 11-6 victory over Notre Dame Saturday afternoon at Hawley Field.

West Virginia’s victory snaps Notre Dame’s 11-game winning streak that included seven straight in Big East play.
Morrison breezed through the first eight innings and got the first two outs of the ninth before loading the bases and giving way to reliever Ross Fetterly. Notre Dame got two consecutive hits off Fetterly to make it 11-6 before Chris Enourato came in the get Greg Sherry to foul out to first to end the game.
West Virginia (28-10, 8-6) plated a pair of runs each in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings before scoring three in the eighth.
Agreste slugged his third home run of the year to start the fifth and finished the game 3 for 4 with a pair of runs scored and four RBI.
Tyler Kuhn and Austin Markel had three hits each while Justin Parks collected a pair of hits. In all, West Virginia batters accumulated 15 hits against three Notre Dame pitchers. It was the 17th time this season West Virginia has scored at least 10 runs in a game.
Irish starter Wayne Korpi was lifted after the third inning after giving up four earned runs on five hits with three walks. He drops to 5-2 on the season.
Morrison scattered 10 hits and five walks while striking out five to improve to 5-2. Morrison benefited from three double plays produced by the Mountaineer defense.
Brett Lilley, A.J. Pollock and Ross Brezovsky had two hits each for Notre Dame, now 24-10-1, 11-3.
The two teams will complete the three-game series on Sunday at 1 pm.
