MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Third baseman Vince Belnome and left-handed pitcher Steve Morrison have been named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll as announced by the league office this afternoon. The sophomores were honored for their efforts as West Virginia swept BIG EAST rival Pitt in a three-game series this past weekend.
Belnome hit a home run, scored eight runs, had nine hits and recorded five RBIs over the Panthers. For the weekend, Belnome had a .643 batting average and recorded a .800 fielding percentage.
Morrison pitched a complete game, giving up one run on three hits, striking out six and walking three to lead the Mountaineers to a 8-1 victory on March 22, for the sweep.
This is the fourth consecutive week that at least on Mountaineer has been honored by the league.
