Baseball: WVU To Play Host To Canisius

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University baseball team will play host to a doubleheader against Canisius at Hawley Field on Tuesday, March 18. Game one will begin at 1 p.m.
This is the third meeting in program history between Canisius and WVU, with the Mountaineers owning the all-time series 2-0, which began in 2007.
Canisius is 11-1 on the season, having won its last six games with the Golden Griffins lone loss coming against Appalachian State, 7-6, on March 1. Canisius is lead by junior right-hander Alex MacKenzie on the mound (3-0, 1.69 ERA, 13 K, 4 BB). At the plate, junior Kevin Mailloux leads the Griffs with a batting average of .467, including 21 hits, six doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs.
Freshman Jedd Gyorko continues to lead the Mountaineer attack, hitting .493 with six doubles, three triples and one home run. The starting second baseman has recorded 16 runs and 19 RBIs.
On the mound, the Mountaineers will most likely look to junior right-hander Ross Fetterly (1-1, 4.66 ERA, 7 K, 3 BB) and sophomore righty Chris Enourato (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 4 K, 4 BB) as starters.
Last time out, the Mountaineers (13-4) swept Iona in a four-game series at Hawley Field this past weekend. Senior Tyler Kuhn led WVU with two doubles, one triple, three home runs, and eight runs in the series.
