Women's Basketball: WVU Moves to No. 11 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s women’s basketball team (19-3, 8-1) moved to No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, released today. The Mountaineers received 736 points.
The ranking ties for the highest-ever by the Mountaineers in the AP Poll as the 1991-92 reached No. 11 for two consecutive weeks in March, 1992.
Five other BIG EAST teams are ranked in the weekly poll: No. 1 Connecticut, No. 5 Rutgers, No. 16 Notre Dame, No. 18 Pitt, and No. 21 Syracuse.
Senior center Olayinka Sanni was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after her performance in helping the Mountaineers to a 63-60 win at Providence last Saturday. A Chicago Heights, Ill., native, Sanni scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed five rebounds in the victory.
No. 11/11 West Virginia returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 13, against No. 18/15 Pitt (18-5, 8-2) at 7 p.m., at the WVU Coliseum.
