MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s basketball coach Mike Carey today announced that junior guard Vanessa House will miss the remainder of the 2008-09 season after tearing her left knee’s anterior cruciate ligament. She will have surgery to repair the tear in the coming weeks.
A Fresno, Calif., native, House was injured in WVU’s 88-38 victory over Mercyhurst. She was averaging 6.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game prior to the injury in seven games coming off the bench as WVU’s sixth woman.
West Virginia (7-1) returns to action Saturday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m., when it takes on Indiana (5-2) at the WVU Coliseum. The Hoosiers beat the Mountaineers last year, 79-66, in Bloomington, Ind.
