MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team will help work the Light the Night fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park in Morgantown.
All 20 girls on WVU’s squad will be helping the event which will be begin at 5 p.m., with registration and a pre-walk celebration at the amphitheatre. At 7 p.m., the non-competitive walk will start on the riverfront trail.
“This is a good chance for our girls to get involved in the community,” Head Coach Linda Burdette says. “It’s also a good way to give back to the support we have received over the years.”
Those walkers participating carry illuminated balloons to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. The walk is very casual with no fitness requirements and all children, adults, and seniors are all welcome.
