Men's Soccer: WVU Ranked No. 7 In Weekly Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team (4-1) entered the top 10 of the Soccer America poll when the squad jumped from No. 15 to No. 7 in this week’s poll released today.
WVU went 2-0 on the week earning the first home win against Duquesne on Sept. 10 before traveling to No. 5 Duke to earn a 1-0 victory. The game against the Blue Devils was the Mountaineers’ second road win over a top 10 team and WVU’s fourth consecutive 1-0 win this season.
Goalkeeper Zach Johnson earned his fourth consecutive shutout, tying the WVU single season record. Senior Dan Stratford netted his second consecutive game-winning goal against Duquesne. True freshman Paul Paradise recorded his first goal of the season against Duke.
The Mountaineers open conference play on Sept. 21, when they will travel to St. John’s before traveling to Syracuse on Sept. 23. WVU will return home on Sept. 28, to face DePaul for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
