Women's Soccer: Gameday Promotions; Final Ranking

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – With the season-opener against Bowling Green rapidly approaching, West Virginia officials are planning several promotional days this fall for the 15th-ranked Mountaineer women’s soccer team.
Three matches have been designated as “Dollar Days” with all tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas available for purchase for just one dollar. The following games are scheduled for “Dollar Days” – Sept. 9 vs. Penn State, 1 p.m.; Oct. 5 vs. Louisville, 7 p.m.; Oct. 26 vs. USF, 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers will also have a Chick-fil-A Coloring Sheet Night on Sunday, Oct. 28. All children ages 13 and under will gain free admission with a completed coloring sheet courtesy of Chick-fil-A at Morgantown Mall as WVU battles Marquette at 1 p.m.
West Virginia also received its final ranking of the preseason on Wednesday, earning the No. 15 spot from Soccer America.
The Mountaineers, preseason favorites to win the 2007 BIG EAST American Division title, finished 2006 ranked ninth with a 14-4-3 record and seventh straight NCAA tournament appearance.
Four of WVU’s 2007 foes were ranked in today’s preseason poll: Texas A&M (No. 6), Virginia (No. 9), Penn State (No. 11) and Connecticut (No. 16).

The Mountaineers return nine starters as Nikki Izzo-Brown begins her 12th season as head coach of the Mountaineers, leading her teams to seven straight NCAA tournament appearances. The 2007 kicks off on Friday, Aug. 31, against Bowling Green, at 7 p.m.
