Men's Soccer: WVU Ranked 13th In NSCAA/adidas Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– The West Virginia men’s soccer team has been picked 13th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas poll released on Aug. 14.
Five of WVU opponents have been ranked in the preseason poll in No. 4 Duke, No. 9 Maryland, No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 17 St. John’s and No. 25 Connecticut.
The Mountaineers, who were not ranked in the 2006 preseason NSCAA/adidas poll entered the ranks at No. 10 on Sept. 4, climbing as high as No. 4 for three consecutive weeks on Oct. 16th, 23rd and 30th. The BIG EAST Blue Division regular season champions finished the season 15-3-3, making a run in the NCAA tournament.
Four of the 16 conference schools were ranked with WVU ranking only behind No. 10 Notre Dame. UC Santa Barbara topped the poll followed by UCLA, Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia rounding out the top five.
