Taryn Priestly scored a team-high 12 points for Cairns B. Brittany Morgan chipped in 10 points. WVU shot 55.4% from the field and forced 27 Cairns B turnovers.
“This tour has been a great experience for everyone: the players, the coaches and our staff,” WVU Coach Mike Carey said. “The team really got to bond on this tour and we really got to work on our conditioning and certain lineup rotations. Because of this trip we’re a lot farther along than we were this time last year.
“I’d have to say those that benefited the most from this trip were Kelly Smith and Lateefah Joye. You could see Kelly got a lot out of this experience and really gained a lot of experience. I also liked what I saw from Lateefah. You can see she is more comfortable this year. It was also nice to get Chakhia some time and that was good.
“We’re really looking forward to starting our season this year,” Carey added.
WVU will spend tomorrow in Cairns sightseeing and will return to Sydney on Thursday. The Mountaineers will then return home to Morgantown on Friday night.
