MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Larry Aschebrook will assume new duties within the Mountaineer Athletic Club effective immediately, West Virginia University Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong announced today.
Aschebrook has been promoted to assistant athletic director and executive director of development for athletics, replacing Whit Babcock who is leaving WVU for a position at Missouri.
“It is important that we maintain the momentum of the success of the Mountaineer Athletic Club,” says Pastilong. “Larry has played an important role in the planning and growth of our development programs during the last year. His experience as an administrator as well as a successful fundraiser will be a tremendous asset to us.”
Aschebrook began his WVU tenure last October as senior director of development for athletics in the MAC after three years as associate athletic director for development at Northern Arizona. Before NAU, Aschebrook turned in athletic developments stints at Northern Colorado, Texas-Dallas and Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
A native of Clintonville, Wis., Aschebrook received his bachelor’s degree from Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he earned 10 letters in football and track. He received a master’s degree from Wisconsin-LaCrosse in athletic administration. Aschebrook and his wife Angela have three children - Ty, Addy and Alyse.
“Whit Babcock served the Mountaineer Athletic Club well during his five years here and helped us establish a new standard of private giving,” says Pastilong. “We wish him well as he moves into a role as an administrator.”
Niles Eggleston will assume the duties of senior director of development along with Gary McPherson. Donnie Young will continue to serve as assistant director of development.
“Niles and Gary, along with the rest of the staff, have done an excellent job and have played key roles in the growth of MAC,” Pastilong adds. “I look forward to our future in athletic development.”
