Women’s Soccer: Barnes, Kallman Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Two West Virginia University women’s soccer players were named to the United Soccer Leagues Team of the Week. Juniors Greer Barnes and Krystle Kallman were recognized for their play during the 13th week of W-League action.
Barnes guided the Boston Renegade defense to a pair of shutouts last week while Kallman notched the game-winner for the Minnesota Lightning in a 2-1 win at Chicago.
Eight West Virginia women’s soccer players are competing for various W-League teams as they near the end of regular season play. The Rochester Rhinos will host the 2007 W-League Championship on August 3-5. The Championship will be broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel.
The W-League is the USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the U.S. and Canada. The top women’s players throughout the world compete in the USL W-League through the summer months.
West Virginia begins preseason workouts on August 13, with its home opener scheduled for August 31, against Bowling Green at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
