Senior Ashley Banks, junior Lisa DuCote and newcomer Kerri Butler are playing for the Northern Virginia Majestics. Junior Greer Barnes and sophomore Mallory Beck joined the Boston Renegades. Juniors Krystle Kallman and Michelle Molinari teamed up for the Minnesota Lightning. Incoming freshman Erica Henderson is playing with the Rochester Rhinos.
“The W-League is a great venue to see high-level soccer," says head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “The participation from our girls is critical in their development as soccer players. This league allows them the opportunity to get better when away from Morgantown.”
The W-League is the USL’s highest level of women’s soccer in the U.S. and Canada. The 2007 campaign featured a 35-team format in four conferences playing 12 or 14 regular season matches that run through July. The top women’s players throughout the world compete in the USL W-League through the summer months.
West Virginia begins preseason workouts on August 13, with their home opener scheduled for August 31, against Bowling Green at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
