MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team knocked off Pitt, 4-1, Saturday evening at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The victory kicked off the fourth annual Betty Puskar Breast Care Center Soccer Invitational – a weekend dedicated to helping fight breast cancer and raising awareness about the disease. Competition continued Sunday at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility with a 4-versus-4 tournament. Nearly X teams of boys and girls in grades three through eight, and an open division for college-age and older groups, made up the tournament field. Each team of three was completed by a fourth from the WVU women’s soccer team. “It was another great showing from our participants, ,” says assistant coach Nikki Goodenow. “It is our hope that the community will join us for exciting soccer action and help us support efforts to reduce the incidence of breast cancer in our state.” All of the money raised throughout the weekend will go directly to the Betty Puskar Breast Cancer Fund at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Funds are used to support diagnosis and treatment efforts and to provide opportunities to help patients and their families in the midst of battling breast cancer. The Mountaineers would like to thank Pro Performance for their support of the tournament. Pro Performance Rx provides to North Central West Virginia and SW Pennslyvania a state-of-the-art indoor athletic training facility with an elite staff of Exercise Physiologists, Strength and Conditioning Specialists, Performance Counselors, and of course top level skill coaches.
