PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The West Virginia University rowing team completed its first regatta of the season with a pair of promising finishes at the Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River on Saturday, March 24.
The women’s varsity eight boat rowed the course in a time of 6:18.36 to finish third in their heat, while the Mountaineer novice eight boat took second in theirs with a time of 5:59.51. Neither of the boats’ times was fast enough to qualify for the finals.
The Mountaineers now leave for a spring break training trip in San Diego, Calif., that concludes on April 1 with the San Diego Crew Classic.
“We are looking forward to heading out to San Diego on Monday for our training camp which finishes up with the San Diego Crew Classic,” said LaRocque.
