MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University head women’s soccer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown today announced that two more student-athletes will join the team for the 2007 season.
The two student-athletes are Cassandra Dietrick (M-D/Newark, Del.) and Courtney McGregor (GK/Wilmington, Del.).
“Cassandra has played a lot as an outside midfielder and is a hard-working technical player who is good on the ball,” Izzo-Brown says. “Courtney is a very active goalkeeper who is quick off of her line when she’s in net.”
Dietrick, a Soccer Buzz top 150 recruit, is a former Gatorade player of the year and three-time all-state selection for Sanford High in Hockessin, Delaware. She played three years on the Delaware ODP team and spent two years in the ‘89 Region I pool. Dietrick played club for the Spirit United Gaels and won the 2006 Region I championship to advance to USYS Nationals.
McGregor captained the Kirkwood Phantoms club team that has won the last six state titles and she also starts on Delaware’s Olympic Development Program team. She was captain of her crew team and became the first freshman to ever row varsity at Concord High.
