MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University freshmen Keri Bland was named to the U.S. National Cross country team on Sunday, Feb. 19.
Bland, a Fairview, W.Va., native, will now run in the North America, Central America, & Caribbean Cross Country Championship in Orlando, Fla., on March 3.
“To represent your country, state, university and hometown in any sport is a great honor,” says coach Sean Cleary. “Keri Bland is a remarkable young woman and we are all very proud that she is running in this prestigious race.”
Bland’s placement comes on the heals of her eighth place finish (22:39) at the USA Cross Country Championship on Feb. 10.
The Mountaineers will be well represented at the Championship. Freshman Marie Louise Asselin and volunteer coach Rebecca Stallwood have already been selected to represent Team Canada in the race.
