Smith: Fairmont Boys/Girls Club Visit

On January 17th, Melanie Small and I visited the Boys and Girls club in Fairmont. I enjoy visiting different groups in the community so I was excited about going and interacting with the kids.
I really enjoyed spending time with the kids. Melanie and I told them a little bit about ourselves and about where we were from and spoke of the importance of staying in school and getting good grades. The kids were full of questions so we opened it up to them and they were able to ask us whatever they wanted -- and believe me, they did!
After the question/answer session, Melanie and I broke the children up into two groups and taught them how to shoot free throws. Both groups caught on rather quickly so we then had a competition between the girls and boys to see who could shoot the most free throws.
It was a fun time and I think everyone involved enjoyed themselves!
