Women's Basketball: WVU Remains No. 13 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (December 10, 2007) – The West Virginia University women’s basketball team (8-1) remained at No. 13, garnering 599 points, in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, released today.
Ranked No. 13 last week, with 596 points, WVU defeated Duquesne, 91-64, at the A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Four other BIG EAST teams are ranked in the AP poll: No. 2 Connecticut, No. 6 Rutgers, No. 16 DePaul and No. 17 Notre Dame.
Senior Olayinka Sanni was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the third time in the last four weeks after a stellar performance Friday night against the Dukes. The Chicago Heights, Ill., native scored a career-best 29 points on 12-of-20 shooting in 29 minutes of play. Sanni leads the team so far this season with 17.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
West Virginia returns to action Saturday, Dec. 15, at 1:30 p.m., when it plays host to Presbyterian (1-8) at the WVU Coliseum as part of a double header with the Mountaineer men. They take on UMBC at 4 p.m. later that day.
