Volleyball: Mountaineers Defeat St. Francis

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team defeated St. Francis, Pa., this evening at the WVU Coliseum.
The Mountaineers (14-14, 4-9) defeated the Red Flash 3-1 (28-30, 30-25, 30-18, 30-18).
Leading the Mountaineers was junior Tammy Wolf who posted 18 kills while also maintaining a .708 hitting percentage. With only two games remaining, Wolf has recorded a .384 hitting percentage overall,making her the leader for the highest hitting percentage in a single season at WVU.
Also posting an exceptional game was senior setter Kailee Goold who captured her 17th double-double of the season with 58 assists and 10 digs. Freshman libero Bonnie West led the team in digs with 29.
“We had a hard time getting started,” says Head Coach Veronica Hammersmith. “We finally were able to get our tempo back in game two and once we did that things got a lot easier. We are happy to have won this game and we hope to improve our record even more this weekend.”
The Mountaineers will close out the 2007 season this weekend at the WVU Coliseum with Rutgers on Saturday, Nov.10, and Duquesne on Sunday, Nov. 11. Both matches are set for 2 p.m.
