MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team has earned a NSCAA Team Academic Award for its work in the classroom by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
WVU is one of 295 women’s soccer teams in all divisions to post a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher for the 2006-07 academic year. The Mountaineers posted a team GPA of 3.43 last year and have won a NSCAA Team Academic Award every year since 2002.
“I’m very proud of the effort our ladies give to schoolwork,” said Head Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “Being successful on the field and in the classroom has always been a staple of this program and continuing this streak of honors is very encouraging.”
WVU resumes play tonight against USC in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament at 7 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Ticket prices for this weekend are $7 for adults and $5 for youth and students. All WVU students will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
