Football: Ivy, McAfee Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Junior linebacker Mortty Ivy and junior kicker Pat McAfee have been named defensive and special teams Players of the Week by the BIG EAST Conference for their performances in No. 2 West Virginia’s 66-21 victory over No. 20 Connecticut Saturday evening at Milan Puskar Stadium.
Ivy led the Mountaineer defense with 11 tackles, two sacks and three tackles-for-loss. The Monroeville, Pa., native also forced a fumble when he stripped Connecticut quarterback Tyler Lorenzen in the second quarter.
McAfee had an outstanding outing, handling both the kicking and punting duties for West Virginia. The Plum, Pa., native made all nine of his extra point tries while also connecting on a 46-yard field goal. McAfee also placed all three of his punts inside the 20-yard line, while averaging 52.7 yards per boot with a long of 62.
