Game Captains: WVU game captains against Cincinnati are senior cornerback Larry Williams, senior cornerback Antonio Lewis, senior quarterback Adam Bednarik and senior linebacker Marc Magro.
Coach Rich Rodriguez selects game captains each week. Permanent team captains will be elected at the end of the regular season.
For Starters: There were no first-time starters at Cincinnati. A total of 41 Mountaineers have at least one game of starting experience. Tops on that list are senior defensive lineman Keilen Dykes (41), senior safety Eric Wicks (35), junior offensive lineman Ryan Stanchek (31), junior running back Steve Slaton (30) and senior receiver Darius Reynaud (29).
Schmitt’s First Quarter Touchdown: Owen Schmitt scored on a four-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter. It was Schmitt’s third rushing touchdown of the season and 12th of his career.
First Quarter Fumble Recovery: Ryan Mundy recovered Ben Mauk’s fumble late in the first quarter. The recovery marked WVU’s 14th of the season. The Mountaineers have recovered at least one opponent fumble in six straight contests and in nine of 10 games this season.
White’s Touchdown Runs: Patrick White tallied two touchdown runs (7, 4) in the contest marking his 11th and 12th of the season and 36th and 37th of his career.
White has now rushed for at least one touchdown in five consecutive contests. The touchdowns also marked his third multiple rushing touchdown game and 11th of his career.
White now boasts 26 rushing touchdowns in his last 17 games.
Slaton Sets School Scoring Record: With his 1-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, Steve Slaton set WVU’s career scoring record for non-kickers. He now shows 318 career points, passing Ira Errett Rodgers who had 313 points from 1915-1919.
Slaton’s Touchdown Run: Steve Slaton’s 1-yard touchdown run marked his 15th rushing touchdown of the season and 48th of his career. He has now scored at least one touchdown in each of his last four contests. He is already WVU’s career rushing touchdowns leader (48) and career total touchdowns leader (53).
Slaton Moves to Second in Career All-Purpose: Steve Slaton’s 151 all-purpose yards against Cincinnati give him 4,692 for his career, moving him into second place on WVU’s all-time list. He passes Amos Zereoue (1996-98) who had 4,628 yards.
White Goes for 100 Rushing: Patrick White finished the game with 155 yards rushing, his 13th career 100-yard rushing output. White is now tied for fourth all-time with Arthur Owens (1972-75) on WVU’s career 100-yard rushing outputs.
White’s yardages mark his third straight 100-yard rushing game (156 at Rutgers; 147 vs. Louisville). It is the second time in his career he has gone over the century mark in three straight contests (2006: 247 vs. Syracuse; 102 at Connecticut; 125 at Louisville).
Slaton Goes for 100 Rushing as Well: Steve Slaton rushed for 103 yards against the Bearcats, marking his 21st career 100-yard rushing performance, tying him with former Mountaineer Amos Zereoue (1996-98) for second on WVU’s career 100-yard rushing list.
It was his sixth 100-yard rushing performance this season.
Dynamic Duo Rushes For 100 Each In Same Game: Patrick White and Steve Slaton each reached the century mark against Cincinnati, marking the eighth that both have rushed for 100 yards in the same game. The game marks the second time this season (Marshall) that Slaton and White each rushed for 100 in the same game.
WVU is now 7-1 all-time when Slaton and White both rush for 100 yards in a game.
Two Hundred Yards of Total Offense: Patrick White reached 200 yards of total offense for the third straight game. He finished with 155 yards rushing and 140 yards passing for 295 yards of total offense.
In his last three games, White has now tallied 923 yards of total offense.
Career BIG EAST TD Responsible For: Patrick White’s two touchdown runs against the Bearcats give him 69 total touchdowns responsible for in his career, tying former Mountaineer quarterback Rasheed Marshall (2001-04) for WVU’s all-time career TD responsible for.
White Tops 3,000 career rushing yards: With his 155 yards rushing against Cincinnati, Patrick White topped 3,000 rushing yards in his career, now showing 3,129 yards. He passed Vince Young/Texas (2003-05) on the NCAA career quarterback rushing list
