MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer player Krystle Kallman was named to Soccer America’s Team of the Week announced today. Kallman was one of two defenders on the 11-player squad.
Kallman’s award comes on the heels of being named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The junior anchored the back line in a pair of victories last weekend that included the team’s eighth shutout of the season.
Kallman is the second Mountaineer this season to be named to Soccer America’s Team of the Week. Senior defender Natalie Cocchi was honored on Oct. 9.
The Mountaineers own a 13-4-1 overall record and won the BIG EAST American Division title for the second straight year. West Virginia earned a No. 14 ranking from Soccer Buzz and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas and WVU is rated No. 22 in the latest Soccer America poll.
West Virginia received a bye in the first round of the BIG EAST tournament and will play host to the winner of Villanova/South Florida in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Nov. 4. Game time at Dick Dlesk Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
