Men’s Soccer: WVU Plays Marquette To 0-0 Draw

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team played BIG EAST foe Marquette to a 0-0 double overtime draw tonight in Milwaukee, Wis. The Mountaineer’s record now stands at 9-5-1 on the season, 5-3-1 in conference play.
The Mountaineers controlled the tempo of the game, dominating in the second half. WVU outshot the Golden Eagles 13-3 while holding an 11-4 corner kick advantage. Seniors Dan Stratford and Mike Anoia both recorded three shots on goal.
WVU’s defense kept Marquette to just three shots while freshman goalkeeper Zach Johnson recorded his ninth shutout.
Next up, WVU will travel to Seton Hall on Oct. 27 for a 3 p.m. match-up. SHU currently stands at 7-7 on the season, 3-4 in conference play.
