MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team fell from No. 8 to No. 13 in the weekly NSCAA/adidas poll released today. The Mountaineers went 1-1 last weekend when it played host to BIG EAST foes DePaul and USF.
WVU defeated DePaul 1-0 on Friday, Sept. 28, but dropped a 1-0 double-overtime heartbreaker to No. 16 USF on Sunday, Sept. 30. The Mountaineers are now 6-3 on the season, and 2-2 in conference play.
Wake Forest (7-0) remained at the top of the poll followed by BIG EAST foes Connecticut (8-1-1) and Notre Dame (5-1-2). No. 4 Duke (7-2-0) and No. 5 Virginia (6-1-2) round out the top five.
WVU travels to South Bend, Ind. on Saturday, Oct. 6, to play No. 3 Notre Dame. WVU has defeated two top 10 teams (then-No. 6 Maryland on Sept. 7, and then-No. 5 Duke on Sept. 15) on the road and will look to earn the trifecta against the Fighting Irish this weekend. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
