MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to travel to University Park, Pa., on Thursday, Oct. 18, to face Penn State in their first road match of the season. Meet time is set for 4 p.m.
Last season the men’s side defeated the Nittany Lions 137-104, while the women lost 146.5-96.5. Despite the loss, the women’s 400 yard medley relay team, made up of then-freshmen Morgan Callaway, Kitti Veisz, Stephanie Shupe and Kayla Andrews, finished first with a new school record of 3:46.86, beating the previous record by 2.50.
Veisz also dominated in her individual races, taking first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.12, smashing the previous Mountaineer record by 5.31.
The Mountaineers have started out 3-0 this season after defeating Lewis University in the Blue/ Gold Relay Meet, and West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit in the WVU Relay Meet this past weekend.
