Gymnastics: No. 17 WVU Set For Meet at Kentucky

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 17 West Virginia University gymnastics team will compete in a quad meet at Kentucky with North Carolina and Maryland on Jan. 26, at the Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.
West Virginia comes into the meet with a record of 4-1, while Kentucky is 0-2, North Carolina is 4-0 and Maryland is 2-3.
The Mountaineers are ranked 17th after compiling scores of 194.800 and 193.150 in their first two meets of the year for a 193.975 average. WVU currently ranks in the top 10 average in the nation in the floor exercise (48.837) and ranks 13th in the vault (48.925).
Last week at Pitt, senior Janáe Cox took the all-around title with a 38.9 after scoring totals of 9.8 (bars), 9.575 (beam), 9.7 (floor) and 9.825 (vault), respectively. Cox, a native of Otisco, Ind., also placed third on vault, bars and floor with her scores.
Cox has won the all-around in both of WVU’s meets this year and she holds the school record with 29 scores of 39.0 or more points in the all-around.
Tynisha Dennis and Jaime Gold also placed in the top three on floor with scores of 9.725 and 9.7, respectively, at Pitt.
