MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s track and field team will travel to Kent, Ohio, for the Doug Raymond Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 13. The meet, set to start at 10 a.m., plays host to 11 teams.
Saturday’s competition is the first time the Mountaineers will take to the track since the season-opening Holiday Classic at the WVU Shell Building on Dec. 2.
“We’re really going to try to get a lot of the kids to run a little better than we did in December and get them close to what they ran last year,” says sixth year coach Jeff Huntoon. “This should be a good precursor for us and give us an idea to where we’re at.”
The squad had an excellent start in December, taking five events in the Classic. Senior Jessica Czaikowski led the Mountaineers, winning both the 60 meter dash (7.58) and the 60 meter hurdles (8.67).
WVU will next split-up and travel to both the Arkansas Invitational and the Penn State Quad. Both meets will take place Jan. 19-20.
