Volleyball: WVU Travels to Saluki Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team travels to Carbondale, Ill., to participate in the Saluki Invitational Sept. 8-9.
West Virginia (1-6) will open the tournament with a 5 p.m. match against Belmont (4-2). This is the first ever meeting between the Mountaineers and the Bruins. WVU opens day two action with a Noon contest against Austin Peay (1-6). This match marks the first meeting between the two teams. West Virginia will close out the Saluki Invitational in a 7 p.m. bout with Southern Illinois (2-4). The two teams have not met since 1998. The Salukis are 0-3 all-time against the Mountaineers.
WVU is coming off a 1-3 loss at St. Francis on Sept. 5. The Mountaineers were led by libero Aurora Ebert-Santos and middle blocker Lisa Hough in the match against the Red Flash. They recorded 14 digs and 13 points, respectively.
West Virginia is led by Ebert-Santos’ 3.33 digs per game. Hough has recorded 43 kills in 21 games, giving her an average of 2.06 kills per game.
