MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University senior All-America guard Meg Bulger will miss the upcoming 2006-07 Mountaineer women’s basketball season after she recently re-injured her surgically repaired left knee.
Bulger, who tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in WVU’s narrow 74-69 loss at St. John’s this past January, has re-injured that knee and will have surgery in the coming days to repair it. She will take a medical redshirt for the upcoming season.
“We’re very disappointed for Meg,” WVU coach Mike Carey said. “I know she was looking forward to playing this year, being her senior season. Hopefully, she’ll have a great recovery and come back for a great senior year in 2007-08.”
Bulger, a Pittsburgh, Pa., native, averaged 19.8 points per game last season in 18 contests before her injury. At the time of her injury, the all-BIG EAST performer was third in the conference in scoring and led the nation with a 3.5 3-point field goals made per game average.
Bulger has scored 1,285 career points, 14th all-time in school history.
