Football: McLee; Wicks on Nagurski List

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s Kevin McLee and Eric Wicks were among 55 standout players that made the Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch list, it was announced today by the Football Writers Association of America.
Both seniors, McLee and Wicks were instrumental in helping West Virginia achieve its BCS bowl victory over Georgia in the 2006 Nokia Sugar Bowl. McLee, a Uniontown, Pa., resident, ranked second on the team in tackles with 78 while also collecting seven tackles for losses and a pair of sacks.
Wicks, from Pittsburgh, produced 61 tackles and had 6 ½ tackles for losses while forcing four fumbles, breaking up three passes and bagging three sacks. Both were all-Big East performers in 2005.
The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is awarded to the best defensive player in college football and has been awarded by the FWAA since 1993. It is sponsored by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and it will be presented Monday, Dec. 4, at the Westin Hotel where five finalists will vie for the prize.
