Rowing: WVU Strong at Murphy Cup

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The West Virginia University rowing team had a strong showing from both the varsity eight and four boats at the Murphy Cup on Saturday, March 25, in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Mountaineers varsity four started out competition with a second-place finish (7:59.59) in the preliminaries, finishing behind Villanova (7:47.22)
The varsity eight boat took fourth place (7:02.52) in a tough heat behind St. Joesph's who finished first (6:45.99), Bucknell (6:48.43) and Navy (6:53.79). Navy went on to win in the finals with St. Joseph's placing second and Bucknell third overall.
Also racing on the weekend for WVU were the frosh/second varsity four. The boat finished first in the preliminaries (8:11.37) and second in the finals (8:20.07) behind Fairfield (8:13.94).
West Virginia returns to the water for competition at the Knecht Cup, April 8-9, in Camden, N.J.
