MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women’s soccer players Carolyn Blank and Deana Everrett were honored on the 2006 SoccerBuzz All-America teams.
Everrett was named as a forward on the All-America third team while Blank was named to the Freshman All-America fourth team on defense.
Everrett scored 18 goals in her sophomore season to lead the BIG EAST in goals and also in points with 43. She was a first team all-BIG EAST selection who now ranks second in all-time goals scored in a single season in school history. The Oakville, Ontario, native was also named SoccerBuzz first team all-Mid-Atlantic region and second team all-Mid-Atlantic region by the NSCAA.
Blank, a native of Toms River, N.J., helped anchor a defense that posted 13 shutouts and allowed just 13 goals in 21 games. The freshman defender started every match for Coach Nikki Izzo-Brown and was the only freshman that started consistently. Blank netted her first career goal in a 4-0 win against Binghamton. Blank was also named to the SoccerBuzz all-region freshman team.
