MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – LaQuita Owens and Sparkle Davis scored 16 points each to lead West Virginia to a 78-30 victory over Wofford Saturday night at the WVU Coliseum.
Chakhia Cole contributed 14 points and Yinka Sanni added 12 to help the Mountaineers even their record at 2-2.
The Mountaineers overcame a poor first-half shooting performance by connecting on 17 of 30 in the second half and outscoring the Terriers 46-13. WVU was 8 of 22 from 3-point distance and finished 16 of 23 from the free throw line.
West Virginia held a substantial 47-29 margin on the backboards and the Mountaineers held Wofford to just 11 of 45 for 24.4 percent.
No Wofford player scored more than six points.
The Mountaineers return to action next Friday facing Texas A&M in the Loyola-Marymount Ayers Hotel Thanksgiving Tournament in Los Angeles. Tip off is set for 6 pm.
