Women's Soccer: No. 6 WVU To Host UConn

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 6 West Virginia University women’s soccer team will host BIG EAST American Division rival Connecticut on Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
Connecticut leads the all-time series with the Mountaineers 9-2-0. WVU’s last win against the Huskies came as 1-0 result in Storrs, Conn., back in 2003.
West Virginia (13-1-2, 7-1-1 BIG EAST) has now shut out six of its last seven BIG EAST opponents and sits in the driver seat in the BIG EAST American Division with 22 points. UConn (8-7-2, 5-3-1 BIG EAST) currently is tied for second in the American Division with Marquette at 16 points in conference play.
Reigning BIG EAST offensive player of the week sophomore Deana Everrett was one of five forwards named to Soccer America's national team of the week. The Oakville, Ontario, Canada, native has scored 16 goals and is second in the country behind Middle Tennessee's Kala Morgan, who has netted 18 this season.
Everrett leads the BIG EAST in goals and points with 38. She also trails former All-American Katie Barnes (17 G - 2000) to tie for second all-time in single season scoring.
Senior goalkeeper Lana Bannerman has 10 shutouts this season to tie her own single season school record set back in 2003 and Stacey Adams’ 10 shutouts in the 1997 season.
