Rifle: WVU to Host Memphis

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team will open the 2006-07 season when it hosts the Memphis Tigers on Monday, Oct. 15 at the Mountaineer Rifle Range at 8 a.m.

WVU is 0-2 all-time against Memphis. The Tigers handed the Mountaineers their final loss of the year when they defeated West Virginia 4612-4585 at the NCAA qualifier last season.

This year the Mountaineers return all seven of their shooters from last season. Two talented freshmen will join the ranks and work to make an impact. Jon Hammond, a former WVU shooter, enters his first year as head coach of the Mountaineers.
