Women's Tennis: WVU Travels to William and Mary

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's tennis team hits the road on Saturday, Jan. 28, for a match against William and Mary at 1 p.m., before taking on East Tennessee State on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m.
The Mountaineers (1-0) are coming off a 7-0 win against Wright State in their season opener. At No. 1 singles, sophomore Monica Lyskawa got an easy victory over Tiffany Foster, 6-0, 6-1, while No. 2 Stacey Percival defeated Laura Culberton, 6-0, 6-4.
No. 3 Natalia Prinz bettered Audra Beckett, 6-2, 6-3, while No. 4 Colleen Speaker shut out Megan Laux, 6-0, 6-0. No. 5 Kelly Walsh defeated Karina Presti, 6-1, 6-2. At No. 6, junior Catherine Koontz defeated Christa Ames, 6-0, 6-2. In exhibition singles, junior Ashley Constantine topped Monica Cappciello in a perfect 6-0, 6-0 match.
In doubles action, the duo of senior Raynie Theis and and Percival topped Foster-Beckett, 8-3. Prinz-Speaker cruised to an easy win over Laux-Presti, 8-0, before Constantine-Lyskawa defeated Culbertson-Ames, 8-2.
The Tribe lead the all-time series against West Virginia, 0-2, while the Mountaineers hold the edge over the Bucaneers, 7-3.
