Wrestling: Brenner Set For Jr. World Trials

Brenner, who redshirted the 2004-05 WVU season, will compete for the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club at 84 kg/185 lbs. in the men’s freestyle portion of the tournament. The 2005 FILA Junior World Team Trials will determine who will represent the U.S. at the Junior World Championships in Vilnius, Lithuania, July 4-8.
The FILA Junior World Team Trials will be competed in a format similar to the U.S. World Team Trials. Athletes will weigh-in on Thursday, May 26. A challenge tournament on Friday, May 27, will determine who will compete in a best-of-three Championship Series against the 2005 FILA Junior Nationals champion on Saturday, May 28.
The winner of that best-of-three series will be the U.S. representative at the Junior World Championships.
Brenner, a Freedom, Pa., native posted a 4-2 record en route to a fourth-place finish at the Junior National Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas, Nev., back on May 1.
