Women's Track: WVU Finishes Third

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A strong finish Sunday by the West Virginia University women’s track team lifted the Mountaineers to a third-place finish at the 2005 ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J.
Senior Jenn Kemp won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.33, a season-best and NCAA regional qualifying mark. Jennifer Davis also took first-place honors in the 3,000 with a time of 9:33.61.
Sophomore Jessica Czaikowski matched her season-best time in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.67, finishing second. That time also exceeded the NCAA regional qualifying standard.
Nancy Regalbuto placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5-feet-9 inches while the 4x100-meter relay team of Halimah Bashir, Czaikowski, Shani Boone and Junique Morris finished fifth with a time of 46.24.
The Mountaineers got a third-place finish from Abbie Stechschulte in the heptathlon on Saturday and senior Tara Struyk finished fourth in the 5,000 with a time of 16:40.54 on Friday.
WVU finished the meet with 48 team points. Pitt won the event with 113 points followed by Cornell with 72 team points.
West Virginia returns to the track in two weeks to take part in the NCAA East Regionals. May 27-28.
