MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University rowing team heads to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., to compete in the BIG EAST Women's Rowing Championship on Sunday, April 24.
This year is the first year that the BIG EAST is considering the regatta a conference championship. The conference has sponsored the regatta since 2001, however, the event has always been considered a "challenge."
Last year the Mountaineers competed in three races at the regatta. WVU took seventh in last year's petite final, eighth in the second varsity eight petite final and eighth in the novice eight petite final.
The Mountaineers are coming off of a solid performance last weekend at the Knecht Cup in Philadelphia, Pa., on Sunday, April 17, in Camden, N.J. Despite damaging its boat in the semi-finals, WVU rowed to a fourth-place finish in the third finals.
