Wrestling: Three Competing at University Nationals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three West Virginia University wrestlers are competing at the 2005 University National Championships at Welsh-Ryan Arena on the campus of Northwestern University, April 14-16, in Evanston, Ill.
Junior Eric Mullen (74 kg/163 lbs.) and redshirt freshmen Kurt Brenner (84 kg/185 lbs.) and Kyle Turnbull (55 kg/121 lbs.) are competing in the men’s freestyle portion of the tournament. The University National Championships is open to wrestlers born between 1981 and 1987 whose class has graduated from high school.
The University National Championships will serve as a qualifying event for the University World Team Trials, to be held in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 22-29. All wrestlers who place in the top eight of the University National Championships will be eligible to compete in the University World Team Trials.
This is the first year that the University National Championships will not directly decide who competes at the University World Championships.
