Rowing: WVU Heads to San Diego Crew Classic

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's rowing team heads to San Diego, Calif., to compete in the San Diego Crew Classic from April 2-3.
The Mountaineers are coming off of a very successful weekend at the Murphy Cup in Philadelphia, Pa. on Saturday, March 26. WVU's four boat comprised of cox Michelle Heir and rowers Christy Davison, Erin McLaughlin, Megan Will and Cara Cruikshank finished fourth overall.
The team's eight boat that included cox Laura Goren and rowers Katie Baylor, Meg Ayers, Donna Stullken, Robin Reed, Kirsten Leslie, Amelia Payne, Caitlin Everett and Courtney Sullivan took fifth place.
The Mountaineers will return to the Cal Cup race this year after winning the event in 2003. In 2004 WVU competed in the Jessop-Whittier Cup race and finished seventh in the petite finals.
The Cal Cup preliminaries begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning with the final taking place on Sunday. Results will be posted throughout the weekend on row2k.com
