Women's Tennis: WVU Defeats Troy, 4-3

West Virginia claimed the doubles points which proved to be the difference winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The duo of Natalia Prinz and Kelly Walsh posted an 8-3 win while Colleen Speaker and Ashley Constantine won 8-2.
Catherine Koontz and freshmen Kathryn Gerber and Stacey Percival each won singles matches in three sets. Koontz used a strong third set, 6-1, to knock off Troy’s Luz Angela Garcia. Gerber topped Christina Mancheno, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 while Percival defeated Nicole Shaw 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.
Troy earned wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles for their three points. Suxanne Jones won at center court while Tsi-Tsi Masviba and Shaimaa Seif won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
West Virginia improves to 6-4 on the season. The Mountaineers close out the Lady Eagle Classic against Hofstra on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
